1 Year Congrats!

My brother has been out on his mission for one year now. Just one more to go. I can't believe it's already been a year. Wow. So for his anniversary I made this card for him.

I wanted the outside to be very simple. So when he opened it up he gets this:

A tie for every month he's been out. Hopefully it's a WoW for him. Of course, he is a 24 y/o boy so who knows. :) I got the pop up idea w/ acetate paper from Youtube member vadeler. If you click on the name you'll see the Youtube video I saw.

I used the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge for the ties. I would recommend laying them out in the way you want to see it before gluing them on. I didn't, lesson learned. :)

The designer paper used for the ties is the Basic Grey Oliver 6x6 paper pack. I used the Checkerboard Cuttlebug folder. The Enchanted Evening (blue) paper and ribbon is from PTI. Grey paper is from SU! Not sure where I got the acetate paper, metal photo brackets or the stamp.

Don't forget to sign up for my giveaway in the post below.

It's Not Easy Being Pink - Thank you Robyn!

Welcome to the It's Not Easy Being Pink blog hop!!! We wanted to thank Robyn, My Pink Stamper, for the privilege of working with her these last few months. It was such a wonderful experience and an honor to be part of her design team. She is an amazing woman who does so much for others. We also want to thank her for sharing her fabulous talent with us. So we wanted to do something special for her. We are holding this blog hop in her honor!

This blog hop includes 7 previous My Pink Stamper Design Team Members. Emma is still a current design team member (Lucky!). The theme of each of our products is some form of "Thank you!". You will definitely want to check out everyone's projects, they are fabulous! Plus each blog has a fun giveaway! So let's get the party rollin'....

I already sent a little thank you gift to Robyn so I wanted to make a project "Robyn Inspired". When I think of her I think of Pink and Butterflies. The first thing I did was to change my blog design to be pink! :) Then I made a card with that inspiration as well...

The butterfly cut is from the Straight from the Nest cartridge. I cut it out twice for added dimension. The sentiment is from her Buggy Punnies stamp set. Adorable! I also used the Swiss Dots cuttlebug embossing folder, PTI ribbon & Paper and the darker teal paper is from SU!. I used Stickles on the body of the butterfly as well as the swirl. I outlined the edge of my butterfly, both layers, w/ a Versamark pen. (Thanks Glora for the idea!)

For my giveaway I am giving away a 6x6 scrapbooking kit from SEI. It contains an album, designer paper, label and frame stickers, die-cut tags, alphabet stickers, brads and ribbon. If you're not a scrapbooker (like me) everything in the kit can easily be used towards your card making. That's what I do when I see one of these types of kits on sale. :) I'm also including 3 adorable butterfly stamps (2" each) from Studio G. To be entered into this giveaway please subscribe to my blog if you haven't done so already and leave a comment on this post along w/ a way to get a hold of you. The winner will be chosen by random.org. You have until Tuesday July 27th at 10pm MDT to enter. I'll announce the winner on Wednesday the 28th.

Now on to the other fabulous women! The next person on the hop is Rowena. Her projects are always SO wonderful!

The order of the blog hop is as follows:

Pam (that's me!)

Thanks for stopping by and have fun Hopping!

Happy Trails to You!

Here is a birthday card I made for my uncle. He loves hiking and nature so I thought up this card.

The trees are from the ZooBalloo Cricut cartridge and the grass is from the Straight from the Nest cartridge. I couldn't find the path that I liked so I searched in my Gypsy for a wavy line and found this one. It is from Home Accents. It lists it in my Gypsy as a line. I unlinked all of the measurements and set it at 8x30" and then only cut about half of it. It worked out great. The image is image 9 in the shift position. This is one great advantage to the Gypsy or Design Studio. You can make something that you need out of something that doesn't make sense.

The birthday sentiment is from the My Pink Stamper's Family & Friends stamp set. The paper is from PTI.

Don't forget about the Blog Hop w/ Giveaways this Saturday!!!

They're Just Like Children!

I have two dog beds in my craft room. A middle sized one and a larger sized one. My two dogs tore up the larger sized one because of their digging/nesting. Anyways, I bought them a very nice new larger bed. Doesn't it look soft and fluffy? It wasn't cheap either. (Speaking of, why are they so expensive???)

Anywho, this is their reaction to it:

Yep, they would rather squeeze themselves into the smaller one. Its like when you give a kid a toy and they play w/ the box! :) I'm slowly forcing, um, I mean, getting them to accept the bigger bed. ;)

Blog Hop w/ Giveaways This Saturday!

Hi All! I wanted to give a heads up on what is happening this weekend. On Saturday, the 24th, there is going to be a blog hop w/ giveaways w/ all of the past My Pink Stampers Design Team members. It's a thank you to Robyn aka My Pink Stamper. It is going to be tons of fun so make sure that you check it out!

From the mouth of babes???

OK, something hilarious happened to me at church today that I just had to share. I was walking down the hallway and this boy that I use to teach in Primary when he was 7, he is now 9, comes up to me and says, "Wow, it looks like you had a rough night". I thought, I couldn't have heard him right. So I asked, "What?" He responded, "It looks like you had a bad night". I asked, "Why do you say that?" He said, "Because you're hair is pulled back".

K, note to self. When my bangs are pulled back I look haggard to little kids. ;) I had a pretty good laugh w/ my mom. Who thought it was so hilarious she cried. :D

Hope your Sunday is just as great. Well, I hope you have a great one anyways. :)

Oh Snap!

Here is a card that I made for my brother just to say hi. The turtle is cut from the Create a Critter cartridge. I used the Critter Faces Set A size Large from Peachy Keen Stamps. The sentiment is from the Scrappy Mom's Amusing Animal Stamp set. You can get them HERE. I used Stampin Up! circle punches for the sentiment stamp. The Polka Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder was used on the white paper for added circle dimension. I used the Uniball Signo white gel pen to color in the eyes and put stitching lines on his shell. The green paper is from Papertrey Ink.

Welcome Home!

My friend just bought and moved into her dream home. So I wanted to make her a little something to say congrats. This is actually one of the reasons why I bought the Cricut Lite Handy Man cartridge. It has the cutest houses on there. This cart isn't just for manly projects. This home cut is #32 on your overlay. I added a button brad for the door handle. Another thing I added to the house was I outlined the windows w/ a brown marker because the white windows were too close in color to the yellow house. One thing I wish I had done was cuttlebug the roof too add texture. Still like it though. :)

I used Papertrey Ink (PTI) & Stampin' Up (SU!) cardstock and ink. The ribbon is from PTI as well. The cloud, smoke coming from the chimney, flowers, and sentiment stamp came from the Close to My Hearth (CTMH) Around the Block stamp set.

Here is mine:

I had another cousin who just had a baby boy so when I was trying to come up w/ a card for them I remembered this weeks Paper Playtime Challenge and combined the two.

The bubbles and rubber ducky are from the New Arrival cartridge. I cut the Bubbles out 3 times for this card. I used the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder on the white paper. The ribbon is from Papertrey Ink. I used the Bow Easy tool to make my bow. You can see more information on that tool HERE. I used a dotted background stamp from Gina K Designs w/ Versamark ink on the duck. The eye stamp is from the Peachy Keen Critter Faces Set A X-Large stamp set.

Paper Playtime Challenge #6 - Its a Guy Thing

This week at Paper Playtime the challenge is to create something that has a guy theme. This came at perfect timing because my Uncle's birthday was this week and I needed to make him a card. Our Paper Queen Lisa did a great job with her LO. You can see it HERE and you can also submit your entry there also.

My Entry:

I think making a card for a guy can be challenging. The trick to it I think is to create something that has to do specifically with them. Like if they love to read, put books w/ titles that have to do w/ them. If they love a specific sport or cars, create something that has that sport or a car on it. But if you don't know what to do, stay simple. When I was making this card I wasn't sure what to make for my uncle. He is a retired teacher but I wanted to stay away from that theme. He loves to read, but I made a card w/ that theme for one of my other uncles, you can see it HERE. So I decided to use the simple theme. I made the card but just thought that something was missing to it. Then I added the buttons. I think it looks so much better. So we can add embellishments to a man card, just not bows or bling. ;)

The stamp is from the My Pink Stamper Family & Friends stamp set. The kraft paper I used for the base is from Papertrey Ink, so are the Dark Chocolate buttons. The yellow, blue and striped designer paper is from K&Company Road Trip Die-Cut Mat Pad. I love the colors and designs in this paper pack. The pack is 4.75" x 6.75" with arrows and stars die cut into it. I just cut around that for the paper and it works perfectly for cards. You can see the pack HERE. I didn't get it from there but if you click on the paper you can see it up close.

I hope you join us over at Paper Playtime. It's a fun challenge this week, who doesn't like to be given a challenge to make something for a guy? :) This week's challenge ends at midnight on Sunday. The next challenge starts up on Monday morning.

Precious Baby Girl

Here is a baby card that I made for my cousin. They had an adorable little baby girl. This card is easy to change to a boy card by changing everything pink to blue. Love it!

The stamp is from Stamping Bella called My Beary Best Friend. I used SU! markers to color in the image.

Dark Chocolate & Hibiscus Burst (Pink) cardstock from PTI. Basic white cardstock from Roberts. Polka Dot Cuttlebug folder. Not sure where I got the ribbon. I think it was from a LSS that was closing. I used my Bow Easy tool to make the bow.

Tweet! A Wedding Card

My friends daughter got married and this is the card I made for her and her husband. They are a fun young couple so I thought that this was fitting. The only thing I would change was to put a veil of some kind on the female bird.

I used the Sweethearts Cricut cartridge. Polka dot Cuttlebug folder. Rounded corners w/ my Memory Keepers Corner Chomper. Simply Chartreuse & Hibiscus Burst (pink) cardstock - PTI. Designer paper - k&i Memories Classic Prints & DCWV Flower Shower Spring paper packs. Basic white cardstock from Roberts Crafts.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Matching Card & Bag

Here is a matching bag and card I made for my mom's birthday. You might think that this is kind of dark for a birthday but what I gave her was a black and white flirty apron. So I wanted to make a black and white card and bag w/ a pop of her favorite color on it. I like it. :)

The cut is from the Cindy Loo cartridge. The green color on the card, bag and ribbon is from PTI, their new Simply Chartreuse color. It's so pretty! :) Then I put a dot in each scallop w/ a white gel pen. I learned how to make the bag from Live Love Scrap. To see how I made the bag view her video HERE.

The card is a 5.25" x 5.25" sized card. The bag is 9" high, 8"wide, 2" deep.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for looking!
