Episode 88: Potato Chip Card

Yep!  I said Potato Chip card.  My cousin wanted a card for her nephew who she lovingly calls 'Nick Nick Potato Chip'.  Hence a potato chip card.  See, there is a reason for everything.  :)  I hope you enjoy this card.  I did use the Cricut Craft Room to make my potato chip bag.  I can't wait until all the bugs are fixed, this will be a GREAT tool, especially for Imagine users.  Enjoy!

EEEK!

This project is made for the Paper Playtime Challenge.  The challenge is to make a Halloween project.  Theresa, the Scrapbooking Queen, is giving away some Action Wobbles.  LOVE Action Wobbles.  :)  This is a very simply Halloween card.  I cut out the monster from the Bump in the Night Cricut Lite cartridge.  This has some adorable monsters on this cart.  He is cut at 3.6".  I use the Peachy Keen Monster Mash Face stamp set for the face and the My Pink Stampers Spooky Puns stamp set for the sentiment.  I just stamped the EEEK! over and over again on a white strip.

To participate in the challenge click HERE.  The challenge is only going on for a week so be sure to enter soon!  :)

Thank You Cards for Men

Here are a couple of thank you cards I made and are great to give to men.  The designer paper is from the DCWV Rustic paper pack.  I did try a new technique on this one and it is embossing on buttons.  Press your button on Versamark Ink then dip your button in the embossing powder to make sure that only the edges get the powder on it.  Then heat set it.  I got embossing powder in the middle of one of the buttons.  Luckily it looks alright.  :)  I really like the look of this.  It adds a great embellishment that looks very designer.  I learned this from Jennifer McGuire as well.  Enjoy!

Episode 86: Different Techniques for Simple Cards

Here are a couple of simple cards that I made up last night.  The first one is stamping with pearlized water.  To get the effect cover your cardstock w/ distress ink.  It reacts to water amazingly.  Spray your stamp with a Mini Mister filled with water and Perfect Pearls.  I used the color perfect pearls.  Stamp directly onto the color cardstock.  It will leave an outline and a pearly essence on the card.  Really pretty.  More details are in the video.

The next card I stamped a background stamp w/ Versamark on acetate paper and put white embossing powder on it.  Then decorated.   I like the way it turned out.  Would be a great boy b-day card.

I learned these techniques from Jennifer McGuire.  You can see her blog HERE.

Teen Birthday Card

I first want to say Happy Birthday to the Imagine machine!  So glad you came into my life.  :)  So this last week at the Creative Critterz Imaginations blog we have been celebrating the Imagine's birthday by showing birthday projects made with the Imagine.  Even if you don't have the Imagine there are some great birthday ideas you can do w/ the regular Cricut.  There is a giveaway going on as well, a Fancy Frames Cricut cartridge.  Today is the last day to enter in the giveaway.  To be eligible leave a comment HERE and then for extra entries for the giveaway leave a comment on each post that went on this last week.

On to my project.  This card is for my niece who is turning 15 going on 25.  So I thought I should make something kind of funky and classy.  :)  I used the Black & White Imagine cartridge to make the Zebra print and the Polka Dot print.  That's what I love about this cartridge.  It only prints the black part so you can print it on any kind of paper, even paper w/ designs on it, to add that extra pop.  The monogram is from the Baby Boutique Imagine cartridge.

Remember to head on over to the Creative Critterz Imaginations blog to be eligible for the giveaway!

Episode 84: Wedding Embossing & Rosette

This is a wedding card that I made for my cousin that is getting married this weekend.  I love how this turned out.  I tried out a few new techniques on it.  Embossing on acetate paper, making a rosette, and creating the heart bride and groom.  I learned about the acetate paper and rosette techniques from Jennifer McGuire and the heart bride and groom from my SU! Demonstrator Dawn.

I did realize that after I made this rosette that I should have cut 2 accordion strips and glued them together.  It would have made the rosette more flexible and easier to play w/.  I'll make another one soon and show you what I mean.

Upclose pic of the bride and groom:

Also, I bought 3 of the Black Cricut storage binders for my Imagine cartridges but I was able to fit my Imagine cartridges in my current Cricut storage system.  You can see it HERE.  SO...  I have these 3 storage binders that I am putting up for sale since I can't return them.  They are in perfect condition, nothing wrong with them.  I'm asking $20 for each plus $5 for shipping.  If you buy all 3 I'll do free shipping.  This is for US & Canada only.  I'm also asking that you pay through Paypal.  If you are interested in them please email me w/ how many you want and your contact information.  Let me know if you have any questions, simply-pam@hotmail.com.

I made this for my cousin-in-law Georganne.  She is super crafty when it comes to cookies and cakes.  You can see her blog HERE.  Amazing stuff!!!  She is in Korea w/ her family.   Her husband is serving in the military there.  Love our military men and women.  Thanks!!!  :)  Before they were married they were river raft guides in Colorado.  So I wanted to send her a little something to remind her of those days and to say hi and thanks!  We've actually become closer through our blogs since she moved to Korea.  Crazy huh?

Make sure you head on over to her blog to give her some bloggy loves.  :)

Resisting the Ink

Hi Crafters!  Today I created a simple card using a resist ink technique.  I'm taking an inspiration course online to help me learn new techniques.  I'm so excited about this.  It's going to be fun.  The first thing that was showcased was resist ink techniques.  I tried out the more simple technique of clear embossing my images on my card then using blending ink and my blending tool to layer on colors.  Simple.  :)

What's Up...

Hi Crafters!  To give you a heads up on what is going on and what has happened.  I gave a birthday present to my sis-in-law back in April to cross stitch a project for her.  I'm finally getting to it.  (yeah, I know)  Anywho, so I haven't had a lot of time to do any paper crafting.  I did make a card last night but I have to wait until Thursday to post it.  I'll try and get something posted before then.

There is a great week long celebration this week over at the Creative Critterz Imaginations blog.  We are celebrating the Imagine being out for a whole year and will be providing projects that focus on birthdays.  There will also be giveaways.  Even if you don't have an Imagine be sure to stop by.  You can still get inspiration from these projects w/o using an Imagine.  Also, the first giveaway is a Cricut cartridge so anyone can use it!  :)

Hope to post something creative soon...

Simply Crafts w/ Glora & Pam - Happy Birthday Sweetie!

Hi Crafters!  It's the first Wednesday of the month which means it's Simply Crafts w/ Glora & Pam day!  It is Glora's turn this month to choose the cut and she chose the gumball machine from the Sweethearts Cricut cartridge.  This is the first time I've put together this cut.  I like the way it turned out.  I didn't have time to make a video so I'll do my best at explaining what I did.

I hid all of the dash lines on the main cut to make a solid background which is the light blue cardstock.  I pasted down the gumballs, pop dotted the heart and stamped my message on the blue cardstock.  The sentiment comes from the My Pink Stamper's new stamp set called Sweet Goodness.

I then cut out the same solid base again using clear acetate paper.  I glued down all of the top layers on that.  I then pop dotted that whole piece on top of the light blue cut.  Here is a side picture so you can see what I'm talking about.

The pattern paper on the machine and the gumballs were printed out w/ my Imagine using the Bubblegum Stripes Imagine cartridge.  I embossed the white cardstock using the Pajama Stripes Cuttlebug embossing folder then put blue brads in the corners.

Now be sure to stop over at Glora's blog because you know she will have something amazing for you to see.  She goes above and beyond on her projects.  Thanks for stopping by!  :)

Magnetic Board

Happy Tuesday!  For my Creative Critterz Imaginations blog post I decided on making a hanging magnetic board.  The theme this week is Home Decor.  I used Nursery Tails Imagine cartridge for all pattern paper and the April Showers Cricut cartridge for my cuts.  The border is also from the Nursery Tails cartridge.  Here is a pic of it hanging, it's hard to see against a white wall unfortunately.  More pics are below where you can see the colors and cuts better.

The size of the board is 8.5" x 9.25".  I used bought 26 guage sheet metal from home depot and cut that down to 8" x 7.5" using tin snips.  Glued that down on the chipboard and then covered that w/ my designer paper.  The border is cut at 2" and I glued that down w/ it hanging over the end of my chipboard a little so you could only see the border and not the bottom of the chipboard.

To make my magnet I used my I-top tool.  My butterfly is cut at 2" and my house is cut at 6.5".  Here is an up close pic of the designer paper that can be found on the Nursery Tails Imagine cartridge.

I have made a magnetic board before and you can see a video of it HERE and HERE.

Episode 82: My Cricut Cartridge Storage

I found this product at Joann's and fell in love w/ the design.  I hoped it would work for my cartridge storage and it did!  Woo Hoo!!!!  :)  It's so pretty!  You can only buy them at Joann's.  I found them back in the sewing area by the yarn I believe.  I went to another Joann's today and there were some back there and then found more in another area.  So just ask a Joann associate if you can't find them.  They do come in other colors and other styles.  I go more into detail on that in the video.  Bonus, they are on sale right now; 40% off!  So this system holds 42 cartridges and only cost me, w/ tax, $11.  I have 3 of them so that is 126 cartridges for only $33!  So much better than what I've found so far out there.  Enjoy!

Forgot to mention that you should be able to fit the overlays in here as well.  Just put them within each booklet.  W/ the overlays w/in the booklets it is about the size of the wire rings on the booklet so it should fit fine.  Hope that makes sense.  :)  I don't use the overlays so they are in my cartridge boxes which are stored in my Expression & Imagine boxes.

Here is a pic of the black & white ones.  In my video I said it was black w/ white flowers.  oops.  :)

Happy Bird-day!

This card is a locking folding card.  I saw the design on Kristina Werner's blog.  You can see it HERE and she has a video on how she made her card as well.  I cut the base at 4.25" x 11", then scored it at 2.5" and 7.5" for my folds.  My image is the locking mechanism to keep the card closed.

On the image I used the new Cricut Craft Room.  There are quite a few bugs w/ it right now but it is to be expected because it is in beta testing right now.  I'm so excited for this program, especially to use it w/ my Imagine machine.  What I did for this image was add all of the layers of the baseball cut on the 3 Birds on Parade Cricut cartridge.  I then filled each image w/ colors and patterns from my Imagine Blast Off cartridge.  I then layered each cut on top of each other to create one image then printed it and cut it out.  I meant to print out the hat, mitt and ball to make it more layered but forgot.  But it layered perfectly and it still looks great.  I'm going to love this new program.  :)

Blast Off Imagine cartridge
3 Birds on Parade Cricut cartridge
