Tacky Tuesdays Challenge #1 - Lettuce

Hi Crafters!  I'm participating in a new challenge site called Tacky Tuesdays Challenges.  What they do is choose a specific cut from the Cricut cartridges that can be tacky, really not a lot of purpose or a cut to be used in a specific way that might be different or tacky.  The challenge is once a month and is announced on the 3rd Tuesday of each month and runs for 2 weeks where a winner will be chosen.  This is run through Facebook so you don't need a blog to participate.  If you're interested go to Tacky Tuesdays Facebook page and request to join.  Easy!  :)

This months project is to use the Lettuce cut from the Freshly Picked Cricut cartridge and use the word "Lettuce" on the project as well.  Fun!

This project is a little like my New Years project.  I'm not planning on giving this to anyone so I made only the card front w/ my scraps.

Flaunt It Fridays Challenge #4 - Turtle

This weeks Flaunt it Fridays challenge is to use the Turtle cut from Create a Critter.  The way their challenge site works is that you have a week to create a specific Cricut cut.  Then a winner is chosen and put in a 2nd drawing to be the monthly winner.  It's really fun.  Make sure you head on over there to participate.

**So I just reread the instructions and they also challenge to not make a card but its not a mandatory instruction.  Oops.  Maybe I'll read the instructions better next time.  :) **

My niece's birthday is coming up in a few weeks so I thought I would make a card using that cut.  It turned out so cute!  :)

Merry Christmas Puppies

I wanted to share a few pics of my dogs opening their presents.  They got the same thing, a cow stuffed w/ a plastic bottle.

This is Kyla opening her present:

This is her playing w/ it:

This is Tavis opening his present:

And this is him ignoring the toy (in the background) and still playing w/ the wrapping:

Yeah, he loves tearing up paper.  Isn't that just like a kid - Play w/ the "box"and ignore the toy.  ;)

~ Thanks for letting me indulge and share this w/ you!

Paper Playtime Challenge #31 - New Years Eve

The theme of this weeks Paper Playtime Challenge is New Years Eve.  So make any paper project and submit it over at the Paper Playtime Challenge.  There is a paper pack and embellishments given away from Sheree with Cravin' Scrappin to the winner.  But you need to participate to win!

So what I made isn't really a card.  It's a card front.  I'm not going to be passing out any New Year cards  but I wanted to participate so I just made the front portion of a card w/ my scraps.  :)  Super Easy.  I decided to make a scene from my childhood.  Whenever midnight struck my siblings and myself would run outside w/ metal pots or pans with a spoon and make a bunch of noise.  Much to the chagrin of our neighbors I'm sure.  :)

Christmas Oyster Crackers

These are the goodies that we gave our neighbors this year.  They are oyster crackers that have been seasoned.  They are good on a salad, in soup, and to just munch on.  I've listed the recipe below as well.  The box I got from Target at last years after Christmas sale.  They were only $1.  I also made a 3 1/2 x 5" nativity card to attach to the box.

Recipe:
Nabisco Oyster Crackers - 24 oz.  This comes out to be about 2 1/2 bags
1 cup Wesson Oil
1 tsp dill weed
1 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp lemon pepper
1 pkg Hidden Valley Buttermilk style ranch dressing (dry powder)

Mix oil with dry ingredients and pour over crackers, tossing as you pour.  Toss gently 4-5 times in the next 30 minutes.

I double my recipe and put in 5 packages of crackers in a very large salad bowl when I make them.  I did this 4 times and it made 10 of these boxes.  I put the crackers in a gallon ziploc bag.

There are cheaper crackers but we have found that they do not absorb the ingredients as well so we buy the Nabisco crackers.  Little more expensive but worth it.

**Disclosure.  I am not a fan of these crackers because I do not like Ranch dressing BUT everyone we give them to and everyone else in my family LOVES them.**  ;)

New Winner, Update on Tins, and Christmas Pic of the Pups!

Hi All!  This post will have a lot of updates on it.  First - I'm picking a new winner for the Paper Playtime Challeng Blog Hop, which were Petaloo flowers.  The winner I chose never responded to my emails or contacted me.  So, the new winner (chosen by random.org) is:

GiGi who said:
Your projects are great!  I LOVE that penguin tin!  That is the cutest little thing!  TFS!

Thanks GiGi!  I've emailed you to get your mailing address.  Hope to hear from you soon!

So, speaking of tins.  Here are the pics of the tins I made.  I made 2 of each of the following cuts.  I added Stickles on each cut to make it more fancy and fun.  I think they turned out cute.  As you can see one of the tins doesn't have mints in it.  That is for my niece who is only 1 years old.  I put in Animal Crackers for her.  Thanks for the idea Heidi!

I got my dogs groomed this week, boy they needed it!  Here is my official Christmas pic of them for 2010.  :)  I forgot to take their collars off but they are so hard to pose for a picture I'm not going to attempt to take another one.  It's really funny, once the camera come up to my face Tavis (the one on the right) turns his head.  He very RARELY looks at me head on in a picture.  For this I grabbed his bone (the ONLY toy he plays with) and squeaked it.  That got his attention and Kyla just looked at me wondering what the heck I'm doing.  lol  Gotta Love 'Em!  :D

Doggy Fun!

So I didn't have time to create a new card this week for today's post.  I'm in my last week of this semester at school so I have my final projects I need to finish up by next Friday.  So I thought I would show a couple of funny pics of my dog Kyla and my dads dog Misty playing.  It's really funny to watch them playing.  They roll around all over each other.  Kyla will jump on Misty's back and head to show dominance then Misty would throw her off.  Then they have their play fighting.  Kyla would bite Misty on the face, neck and legs.  Misty would reciprocate by biting Kyla's feet and ears.  Never once have they yelped so they are just lightly biting.  Misty is also more than twice Kyla's size so it's even funnier.  ;)

Here is Kyla biting Misty on the face.  Click on the picture to see it up close:

Then Misty biting Kyla.  Doesn't Misty look so vicious?  She is the biggest cuddly baby.  She wouldn't hurt a fly!  :)

Anyway, sorry I didn't get another project done this week.  I'll try better next week.  Thanks for reading through another puppy story.  ;)
